MY QUICK COMPLAINT…

I think closed captioning on television is great… even for those of us with functional hearing, it is great to have closed captioning… it allows me to watch Jeopardy at the bar and not miss the questions and answers… it allows me to watch BBC shows on PBS and understand what the British are saying….

I wish I knew how they do that.  In my head, its a room full of stenographers with headphones, watching television all day and typing at Superman speed…

Sometimes you get the closed captioning that is most likely a computer program that gets the words all screwed up…  so when the medical examiner says “This man is dead” the closed caption reads “This mayonnaise Dad” or something like that…

BUT…

BUT…

I occasionally watch college basketball with my aunt, who is hearing impaired… she  watches it with closed captioning turned on…  why… why… why do they put the closed captioning words OVER THE BASKET so you can’t see the points being scored?  Do the ladies in that room have any control over where their words go on the screen?  And could you please move them?

AND… CONGRATULATIONS TO THE UCONN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM… for their 2013 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP WIN…
