Well here’s one for the wheel of outrage, U.S. ports being outsourced to the United Arab Emirates. And our president can’t see what all the fuss is about! Even while many republican senators are against it. Some are worried that this might be viewed as anti- Arab. Meanwhile in several Arab countries, they are killing people, and burning embassies, over a few cartoons.

More? Okay, in April of 05, senator Dodd inserted an ammendment to a State Department bill, that would have prohibited European countries that do buisness with terrorist sponsoring states, from producing components of the US101 presidential helicopter. This ammendment was not approved because of opposition by Democrat Chuck Shumer of New York, where the company Augusta Westland( that got the Marine One contract), has a plant in Oswego. I THINK THE AMMENDMENT SHOULD HAVE PASSED>
Sounds like a good idea to me. No terrorist sponsored states making parts for the Presidential helicopter, but the rest of the senate didn’t see it that way. If it passed Sikorski may have been awarded the contract.

Both of these cases are an example of how politics just defies all rationality , when corporations and lots of government money are involved
