  1. MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2012

April 30, 2012 by Brian Smith

BRIAN SMITH is the same Brian Smith of (the former)  SMITH AND BARBER, THE MORNING SHOW on WPLR… his (former) solo afternoon talk show on WICC 600AM, and (the once) host announcer for the Bridgeport Bluefish baseball and the Fairfield University Stags basketball games at Harbor Yard… and now part of the team at FM NEWS NEW YORK 101.9FM… you can email him at:

THE VOICE has submitted his update for your perusal… things have been going pretty smooth lately at The Prognosticator Grill and Cafe… too smooth.  Without Charles Barkley stopping by lately… and Manny Rodriguez overdue for his visit as celebrity bartender, there has been no brawling and no news coverage… THE VOICE is now looking to Europe to get some trouble-making soccer players to stop by to hang out… and if you remember the German players who almost burned down the East Hall of the Prognosticator a few years ago, I hope THE VOICE has paid his insurance in full for this year… read the latest predictions and inside wisdon from THE VOICE.. and catch up on the Yankees, the Mets, the Knicks… hockey… arena football.. and the cheerleaders… go to the Sports Picks page, or just click (here)…

I’ve been spending a lot of time on the Metro-North train… going back and forth to NYC… and I’ve made the trips a lot easier by looking at the train as if it were a stage for a continuing off-Broadway stage… kind of like the participation theater you are in when you go on a murder mystery cruise or one of those Italian Wedding Party plays… I’m going to start keeping track of the oddball events and characters and writing them up here… if you have any stories like that… train… cab… subway… send ‘em if you got ‘em… my email is up above…

  3. SUNDAY, APRIL 15, 2012

April 15, 2012 by Brian Smith

    April 15th?  Already?

I suppose I should start getting my tax stuff together, if I can find it.

When I think of the kind of nail-gnawing horror that tax accountants have to go through this time of year, I’m glad I checked the career choice box that said “anything but tax accounting”.  Knowing the stories I get my accountant and from friends who dare to work in that occupation, I would not handle someone like me in the dignified, respectable manner I’ve come to expect from such a group of such unsedated, sober professionals.

In fact, I’m sure some accountants dream of a modern day version of tar-and-feathering their clients, which would be restaurant receipts-and-rubber cementing…  Then again, if THAT were an option for handling a client, I would have chosen that career choice box for “tax accountant”.

THE VOICE has checked in for this week…  Yankees… Mets… Arena Football… and wisdom you can’t find anywhere… even at the bar where all the accountants hang out on April 16th…  just go to SPORTS PICKS, or even easier, throw away your 1099′s and your W-2′s, and just click (here)…

THE VOICE has brought Easter Bunni back from her “vacation” in Los Angeles to be a bartender this weekend at The Prognosticator Grill and Cafe.. if you remember, she and a certain shortstop for a certain New York baseball team got caught together in the Barkley Room… and she was wearing  skimpy Red Sox gear and taking pictures… she’s been living a life of labor-free luxury in California for the past year and a half, and those pictures have been deleted and hard drives burned and crushed… although word is, THE VOICE has a CD he hides away that may or may not still have some remembrances of that night… and then you know why he gets front-row behind-the-backstop tickets to all the home games… check out this week’s collection of predictions and sports insider pix and opinions from THE VOICE… go to SPORTS PICKS… or just click (here)…

VIDEO: Just a quickie this week… and it still has me questioning reality… damned internet… it’s a guy… playing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”… on… well.. an instrument made of squeeze-toy kittens… OH NO, Brian, you say… the internet may have ruined our privacy, dignity, and social skills, but it’s not THAT crazy!..  and I say.. it has, and it is, and just click (here)… from YouTube…

Have a good weekend… drive safely… and thanks for listening… -Brian
